Jade & Nathan’s Pastel Rainbow Wedding at Pheasant Run & Cork Factory Hotel

Jade and Nathan’s wedding was a vibrant blend of rustic charm and modern romance, with a stunning pastel rainbow color scheme tying it all together. Their ceremony at the picturesque Pheasant Run Bed and Breakfast was followed by a lively reception at the Cork Factory Hotel. Thoughtful DIY touches, including custom watercolor favors and mismatched decor, showcased their creativity and love for their guests. From a heartwarming first look filled with laughter to a table dash at the reception, every moment was a beautiful reflection of their sweet and joyful relationship.

Jade and Nathan’s wedding was a celebration that seamlessly blended rustic charm with modern elegance, set against the backdrops of Pheasant Run Bed and Breakfast and the Cork Factory Hotel. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that every detail was thoughtfully chosen to create a day that was as vibrant and full of love as they are.

Jade’s vision for the day was nothing short of magical. She chose a muted/pastel rainbow color scheme that found its way into every aspect of the wedding—from the mismatched bridesmaids' dresses to the colorful napkins, centerpieces, and even the drinkware. The mix-and-match aesthetic could have easily felt disjointed, but instead, it all came together in the most beautiful way. The colors perfectly complemented each other, creating a harmonious blend that tied together the rustic chic vibes of Pheasant Run with the modern, romantic, and industrial atmosphere of the Cork Factory Hotel.

One thing that stood out to me was how much Jade and Nathan prioritized their guests’ experience. They extended the cocktail hour to accommodate the change in venues, making sure everyone was well-fed and having fun long before the reception even began. The cocktail hour featured a stunning charcuterie spread, an open bar, and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. From lawn games to an interactive guest book where guests helped paint a picture for the couple, there was no shortage of fun. My personal favorite? The custom watercolor portraits painted by Lavender and Linseed that served as wedding favors, along with thrifted goblets for guests to use and take home—a sweet and personal touch that showed just how much Jade and Nathan love their people.

During the reception, we did something I don’t see too often but absolutely loved—a table dash. Jade and Nathan made it their mission to get a picture with each table before the song ended, ensuring they captured memories with every single guest who came to celebrate with them.

Jade and Nathan are one of the sweetest couples I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. Their wedding was almost entirely DIY’d, with Nathan working hard all morning to make sure Jade’s vision came together perfectly. Both of them were so excited for their first look that they could hardly wait, but in the hustle and bustle of the day, they both forgot to write the letters they had planned to exchange.

As I was setting Nathan in place for the first look, Jade quickly scribbled down her letter, and when I asked Nathan about his, he sheepishly admitted he’d forgotten too. We shared a laugh, and I assured him that Jade had done the same. When I told Jade, she wasn’t shocked at all. Instead, she smiled and said, “Oh my god, we’re made for each other.” Their first look was filled with hugs, kisses, and shared laughter, a perfect representation of their relationship—loving, understanding, and full of joy.

Even though we were only at Pheasant Run for the ceremony, the venue left a lasting impression. Nestled among tall trees and lush woods, with a water feature, sweet farm cats, and horses, it was a stunning setting for outdoor portraits. Jade fell in love with the Cork Factory Hotel but needed an outdoor ceremony, and Pheasant Run delivered on all fronts. The owner was incredibly kind, offering lemonade and cold drinks to Jade, Nathan, and me during their portraits—a sweet touch that made the experience even more special. I’m already looking forward to the day I can photograph a full wedding at this beautiful venue.

Jade and Nathan’s wedding was a true reflection of who they are—thoughtful, creative, and deeply in love. It was an honor to capture their day, and I can’t wait to share more from their beautiful celebration. Check out the slideshow below for a sneak peek of their special day!

Jessica & Jason's Dreamy Wedding at Elizabeth Furnace

Jessica and Jason’s wedding at Elizabeth Furnace was an unforgettable day filled with love and joy! From the beautiful ceremony to the lively reception, every moment was a true celebration. It was such a pleasure to capture their special day, and I can’t wait to share more soon! Stay tuned for a sneak peek of their gorgeous photos!

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jessica and Jason’s wedding at Elizabeth Furnace, and let me tell you, it was one for the books! From the moment I arrived, I knew it was going to be a special day—not just because of the beautiful couple, but because I got to work with one of my favorite videographers, Matt King, again. We both had that “Oh, hey, it’s you!” moment when we realized we’d be working together, which is always such a nice surprise. There’s something really comforting about teaming up with people you’ve worked with before—you just know you’re in for a smooth day.

Jessica is a girl after my own heart—she was all about those flat lays and detail shots! She had everything ready to go the moment I walked in, with a neatly organized box of all her wedding details. It was like Christmas morning for a photographer! We used every little piece she provided, and the results were just stunning. If you know me, you know how much I love capturing those small, meaningful details, and Jessica made it so easy. It was such a joy to be able to bring her vision to life.

If you haven’t been to Elizabeth Furnace in Lititz, PA, you’re missing out. This venue is the definition of charming! Tucked away in the countryside, it’s like stepping into a fairytale. They’ve made great use of their historic outbuildings—one of them was turned into a cozy suite where Jason and his groomsmen got ready, and another was on standby as a backup ceremony spot in case the weather decided not to cooperate.

One thing I really appreciated about this venue was how the layout worked in our favor. The cocktail hour area was a little separated, which gave us the perfect opportunity to get those family photos and couple portraits done without too many interruptions. And let’s talk about the food—wow! It was hands down some of the best wedding food I’ve ever had. The catering team, who are part of the venue, were incredible, and the coordinators were so sweet and easy to work with. They really made the day a breeze for all of us vendors.

Jessica’s crew was a blast to be around. Her childhood friends, mom, and sister, Emily, were all placing bets in the morning on whether or not Jason would cry during the first look or the ceremony. It was all in good fun, and Jason mostly kept it together, but the real waterworks came from behind me during the ceremony. When Jessica started walking down the aisle, I turned around to see her sister, Emily, in tears, which quickly spread to the rest of the girls. It was such a touching moment and just shows how much love was in the air that day.

The reception was an absolute party! Jess and Jason’s friends and family didn’t leave the dance floor all night. One of the sweetest moments was when Jessica’s college acapella group performed one of their old songs—it was such a unique and personal touch that had everyone smiling.

I’m so excited to share a sneak peek of their photos with them soon, complete with a little slideshow to capture all the best moments. From those heartfelt tears to the epic dance party, Jessica and Jason’s wedding was a day full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Stay tuned for more glimpses of their beautiful day at Elizabeth Furnace!

Brooke & Jake’s Romantic Wedding at the Cork Factory Hotel

Bride and groom share a first dance at a rustic wedding venue. The bride wears a strapless white gown, and the groom is in a black suit. Guests watch as the couple dances in a warmly lit, wood-beamed reception space.

A joyful moment from Brooke and Jake's wedding reception shows the couple sharing their first dance. Brooke, in a strapless white gown, smiles at Jake as he twirls her on the dance floor. The rustic venue, with wooden beams and warm lighting, creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Guests watch with smiles, celebrating the couple's love in this beautifully captured moment.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Brooke and Jake's wedding at the Cork Factory Hotel, a charming venue that perfectly complemented the couple's vision for their big day. It was a day filled with emotion, love, and a deep connection with the people who matter most to them.

From the moment I arrived, I could tell this day was going to be special. Brooke couldn't stop crying—and I mean that in the best way possible. Her tears were a testament to the overwhelming joy and love she felt, surrounded by her closest family and friends. Every tear she shed seemed to make the day even more beautiful and heartfelt.

One of the standout details of the day was the stunning floral arrangements, all crafted by Brooke's cousin, Christina, who owns Of Love Designs. Specializing in dried and preserved floral arrangements, Christina created bouquets and decorations that were truly breathtaking. The flowers were already dried for the wedding day, yet they looked as vibrant and fresh as any traditional bouquet. The added bonus? These preserved flowers are ready to go home with Brooke and Jake, serving as a lasting reminder of their day for years to come.

The Cork Factory Hotel was the perfect backdrop for this romantic celebration. It was my first time shooting at this venue, and I was instantly drawn to its industrial charm and moody, romantic ambiance. The bridal suite was a dreamy space for Brooke to get ready, full of soft light and elegance. Meanwhile, Jake and his groomsmen enjoyed the groom's suite, complete with a pool table that added a relaxed vibe to their pre-ceremony moments. The venue’s layout allowed for an easy transition from the reception to the hotel rooms, giving guests the convenience of retiring for the night without any fuss.

Brooke, Jake, and their wedding party gather under the charming awning at the Cork Factory Hotel.

One of the things I truly loved about Brooke and Jake's approach to their wedding day was their commitment to spending time with each other and their guests. They opted for a first look, which not only gave them a private moment together before the ceremony but also allowed us to capture most of the important photos—family portraits, wedding party shots, and couple portraits—before the festivities began. This meant that during the cocktail hour, Brooke and Jake could actually mingle with their guests instead of rushing through photos, making the day more enjoyable and less stressful for everyone.

As a photographer, I could easily spend hours capturing every angle and detail of a couple on their wedding day, but I always encourage my couples to soak in the moments with their loved ones. Brooke and Jake did just that, and the result was a day filled with laughter, love, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Below is a sneak peek slideshow from Brooke and Jake’s unforgettable day. Enjoy!

If you're planning a wedding at the Cork Factory Hotel or looking for a photographer who understands the importance of both capturing and experiencing your special day, I'd love to connect. Let's make your wedding day as beautiful and stress-free as Brooke and Jake's!

2. Overlook Park

2. White Cliffs of Conoy - Marietta, PA

  • Once a limestone dumpsite, the White Cliffs of Conoy have transformed into a picturesque photo spot along the Susquehanna River. While the walk to the cliffs and back may be a bit of a trek, the breathtaking views and stunning photo opportunities make it an unforgettable experience.

The 5 Questions You Should Be Asking Wedding Photographers (And My Answers)

Check out my latest blog post where I cover the top five questions you should ask wedding photographers. I'll also be sharing my own answers, giving you insight into my approach to capturing your special day. Don't miss out on finding the perfect photographer for your wedding memories!

Hello, soon-to-be newlyweds! As you embark on the exciting journey of wedding planning, selecting the ideal photographer is a pivotal decision to ensure your special day is captured beautifully. In this blog post, I'll be sharing five essential questions you should ask any wedding photographer - and of course, I'll be providing my expert insights and responses. My goal is to help you navigate this process with confidence and clarity, ensuring that your wedding photography experience exceeds your expectations. Let's dive into these key questions together and ensure your wedding memories are preserved with professionalism and warmth!

  1. How long have you been photographing weddings?

Why this is important to ask: In my photography journey, I've learned firsthand the difference between portrait and event photography. Weddings, in particular, are filled with unexpected twists and turns despite meticulous planning. That's where flexibility comes in! Your wedding photographer needs to be ready to roll with the punches and capture every moment beautifully. With the right experience and know-how, those little hiccups can be easily handled, leaving you with nothing but fond memories of your big day. Lastly, a photographer's longevity in the industry speaks volumes about their reliability and professionalism. When you choose someone with a proven track record of delivering top-notch work over time, it gives you peace of mind knowing that your special day is in good hands.

My Answer: I'm entering my fourth wedding season, and it's been quite a journey! Interestingly, I began my photography career during the pandemic. As a recent film school graduate, I found myself exploring new avenues for work when the film industry shut down. Luckily, I landed a second photographer gig with a seasoned photographer on the eastern shore. That first wedding went so smoothly that I was asked to stay on for the rest of the summer. From there, I gradually transitioned to taking on my own smaller weddings and building my business. Now, four years in, I'm doing what I love and couldn't be happier!

2. Can we see a full, real wedding gallery?

Why this is important to ask: Requesting to view a full wedding gallery from a prospective photographer is essential. While you may find plenty of stunning golden hour portraits on their website or socials (mine included), how do they operate in a dimly lit reception space? How do they tackle a harshly lit ceremony in an open field? It's crucial to see how they handle different lighting conditions and settings. Reviewing an entire wedding album gives you insight into their storytelling abilities, consistency, and overall style. This ensures their approach aligns with your vision for your wedding day and empowers you to make an informed decision.

My Answer: Absolutely! You can view most of my work, including full weddings, through my gallery on my website. I also can send out links to full galleries upon request.

3. How do you back up your images?

Why this is important to ask: Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, making the backup of your images absolutely crucial. It's essential to safeguard your precious memories against potential risks such as corrupted files, faulty storage devices, equipment malfunctions, or theft. While any photographer's worst nightmare is lost images, a true professional will take extensive measures to prevent such occurrences. Inquiring about their backup process not only offers insight into their professionalism and workflow but also ensures your peace of mind throughout the planning process.

My Answer: Buckle up buckaroo— this is a long one. Like any photographer, I dread the thought of lost images. My business is more than just a job—it's my fourth baby, right after my three precious pups. Photography is my livelihood, my passion, my everything, so I take extra precautions to protect every single shot.

#1 - I shoot with two cameras, each equipped with a dual card slot. This means every image is saved to two separate SD cards simultaneously. If one card fails, I've got a backup ready to go.

#2 - After your wedding, I back up your images to two external solid state drives. Unlike traditional hard drives, solid state drives use flash memory, making them more reliable and less prone to failure.

#3 - I never format my SD cards until your full gallery has been delivered. So even if both external drives fail or are lost, I've still got your images safe and sound.

#4 - As I edit your photos, I back them up to Adobe Creative Cloud. This not only protects your images but also preserves any edits I've made.

I know it may seem like overkill, but as a naturally paranoid and anxious person, these steps are essential for quadruple protecting your photos—and preserving my sanity and peace of mind.

4. In the event you can no longer photograph our wedding, what is your emergency plan?

Why this is important to ask: Asking your wedding photographer about their emergency plan is not only practical but also ensures a smooth and stress-free experience for you. By discussing this in a friendly manner, you create an atmosphere of transparency and trust, showing that you value their professionalism. Understanding their contingency measures allows you to plan ahead confidently, ensuring that your special day is captured beautifully, regardless of any unexpected hiccups. So go ahead and ask! It's all about ensuring your peace of mind and making your wedding day as perfect as can be.

My Answer: Although I've never had to put my emergency plan into action (fingers crossed), I firmly believe in preparing for the unexpected. In the rare event that I'm unable to photograph your wedding, I have a trusted team of second shooters ready to step in. They're familiar with my style, shooting approach, and have worked alongside me extensively to ensure a seamless experience for you on your special day. If, by chance, they're unavailable too, I'm part of a robust network of over 100 seasoned wedding photographers. We regularly collaborate and provide backup for one another when needed, ensuring that your wedding day coverage remains in capable hands.

5. What is it like to work with you on the day of the wedding?

Why this is important to ask: Just as weddings are as unique as you are, finding a photographer who aligns with your personality, preferences, and needs is essential. If you're feeling overwhelmed by being in the spotlight, opt for an extroverted photographer who can draw out your energy in a crowded room and isn't afraid to advocate for your desires. Prefer a more relaxed, hands-off approach? Choose a photographer with a laid-back demeanor who respects your schedule and preferences. Understanding their workflow, communication style, and client interaction provides valuable insight into what to expect on your wedding day. Whether it's directing group shots or capturing candid moments, knowing their approach ensures a seamless and comfortable experience in front of the camera.

My Answer: I'm easygoing, yet assertive when necessary. While I could snap photos endlessly and provide endless poses and prompts, I understand that your wedding day is about you, your partner, and your loved ones, not about me and my camera. During the "getting ready" portion of the day, I'll offer a bit more direction, but by the time the reception starts, I blend into the background, capturing candid moments of you and your loved ones. Rest assured, when it comes to wrangling and organizing family for photos, I'll be there ensuring everyone on your list gets photographed! Ultimately, my top priority is capturing the essence of your special day and ensuring it's one of the happiest days of your life.

In this detailed guide, I've laid out five key questions that are essential for couples to ask when selecting their wedding photographer. These questions cover important aspects like the photographer's experience, how they back up images, and their approach on the big day. By considering these factors and chatting openly with potential photographers, couples can find someone who not only captures their special moments beautifully but also makes them feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process. It's all about finding the perfect match to ensure your wedding memories are preserved with warmth and expertise!

Claire & Jake

Love has a beautiful way of bringing people together. When I received an inquiry for a wedding that took place two days after I would be getting home from my own honeymoon in Italy I was a little hesitant… that was until I found out it was an old friend’s wedding. I was thrilled to learn that Claire, one of my old lacrosse teammates, was not only getting married but was entrusting me with documenting such an important day.

The entire celebration unfolded in the backyard of the groom's family home, transforming the space into a haven of love, laughter, and a touch of vintage charm. From the very beginning, it was evident just how deeply these two families adore each other. Jake’s parents were the most kind and gracious hosts, even reminding me to take a break and eat.

Speaking of the food– oh my, the food! A food truck catered the event, serving up delicious dishes including a vegan steak that you could never guess wasn’t real beef. Whoever said vegan food was gross clearly has never experienced this food truck.

Let's not forget the earthy, vintage vibe of the wedding. When in college, Claire was our team captain and for good reason: she had an old soul and a good head on her shoulders. When I met Jake, it was clear that his personality was a match. Their old souls were reflected in every detail – from the simplicity of wooden table numbers to the rustic elegance of mason jars, all adorned with the most delightful array of flowers. Their vintage-inspired wedding attire, complete with intricate lace and classic tailoring, was a testament to their mature personalities. From the centerpieces, to Claire’s gown and Jake's suit– it all made for a beautiful fusion of eras that captured the essence of timeless romance.

When it came to their portraits, Claire had previously expressed her initial nervousness about being in front of the camera during their engagement session. As an experienced photographer and 2023 bride myself, I understood the apprehension many couples feel during their engagement session. To help Claire and Jake feel more relaxed and comfortable, I incorporated prompted poses throughout their engagement session. These poses provided a structure for their movements while allowing them to naturally express their love and personalities.

Having their engagement portraits done with me previously made their wedding day portraits a breeze. If either of them were nervous about their portraits on wedding day I would have never known. They were nothing short of smiles, laughter, and jokes, which resulted in a twist on a classic, “American Gothic”.

In the end, capturing this incredible day for a dear, old friend felt like such an honor. The day overflowed with love, laughter, and pure joy. As I reflect on the photos, my heart is bursting with happiness for the newlyweds. Here's to a lifetime of love and happiness. Congratulations to Claire & Jake!

Kristen & Brady | Engagement

As a photographer, I love capturing the unique beauty of each moment, no matter what the weather brings, including the cloudy, rainy day of Kristen and Brady's engagement session. Adding a touch of magic and glow to their shoot, their love was captured at two iconic locations in Lancaster, PA.

Our session started early in the morning at Overlook Park, where the cloudy skies and misty atmosphere added a softness to the photos. The beauty of rain is especially apparent through the soft, diffused light brought on by storm clouds, illuminating Kristen and Brady's faces in the most flattering way.

As we walked along the park's paths and woods, I captured some candid shots of the couple enjoying the misty scenery, holding hands and sharing intimate moments and laughs. The cloudy skies created a unique and moody backdrop, which made the greenery of the park vibrant.

Next, we moved on to Downtown Lancaster, where the colorful streets and historic architecture created a unique atmosphere. The rain added a layer of drama to the photos, making the streets glisten with reflections of light. Kristen and Brady walked hand in hand with umbrellas, enjoying the bustling, lively downtown area.

Despite the cloudy skies and light rain, Kristen and Brady's engagement session was a beautiful reflection of their love story. The weather added a unique and intimate touch to their photos, creating a romantic and moody atmosphere that perfectly matched their personalities. I feel honored to have captured this special moment in their lives, and I can't wait to see them tie the knot!

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a truly unique and unforgettable engagement party with a twist - a murder mystery themed engagement party. The party was hosted in a rustic barn tucked away in the rural outskirts of the Baltimore area.

The happy couple, along with their guests, were dressed in period costumes. Tori, the bride-to-be, had an extra special detail: she was wearing her mother’s altered wedding dress. As I arrived, I was greeted by an array of characters in costume. I knew this was going to be a party like no other. I was in awe of the extravagance and detail that Tori put into the party.

The evening began with a murder on the Titanic, and it was up to the guests to solve the mystery. As the party progressed, I had the pleasure of capturing the guests' reactions as they uncovered clues and tried to identify the killer. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and suspense, making for the best photos.

Once the guests were able to solve the mystery, the killer was revealed, and the guests were able to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening knowing that justice had been served. This was the perfect time to pull the bride and groom to be outside for their engagement photos.

When we walked outside I could feel the misty air. Despite the less than perfect weather, Tori and Austin were determined to make the most of their engagement session and I knew we were going to have a great time. To add to the fun, we brought along a bottle of champagne (or two) and incorporated it into the shoot. The champagne pop made for some contagious smiles, laughter, and stunning photos.

Back when Tori initially reached out to me she had a very specific vision for her photos. She envisioned a warm, dreamy glow from twinkle lights perfect for capturing the love between her and Austin. The twinkle lights definitely offered a touch of whimsy and enchantment, making for stunning photographs.

Overall, the murder mystery-themed engagement party and the engagement session were unique and truly unforgettable. The evening was filled with suspense, excitement, and plenty of laughs. I feel grateful to have been a part of it, and grateful to Tori and Austin for choosing me to capture this exciting part of their lives.

Sierra & Ron

A look into Sierra & Ron’s beautiful wedding at Heron’s Hollow.

“The best in each other”

When Sierra first contacted me about capturing her and Ron’s wedding, I knew she was a girl after my own heart. On top of being sweet and bubbly, she was down for any poses or ideas I had, and even had some cute ideas of her own! During the engagement session, we popped open a bottle of wine and captured some exquisite photos of her and Ron at Sach’s Bridge.

At this session, I saw what a beautiful couple and perfect match they are. Ron didn’t miss a beat when I asked him to make Sierra laugh or smile. The two teased and poked fun at each other; there wasn’t a moment where you couldn’t see the love they have for one another. While both hail from Pennsylvania, they met and fell in love in Maryland during the pandemic. Sierra’s outgoing personality being the perfect balance to Ron’s more reserved and quiet demeanor. They truly bring out the best in each other.

“A perfect day”

On the day of the wedding I pulled up to the beautiful Heron's Hollow in Stewartstown, PA, featuring a gorgeous pond, reception barn, and two Airbnb suites: one for the bride and one for the groom. Ron’s suite was perfect for the guys to relax while the girls spent their morning in hair and makeup: prepping for the big day. Sierra’s suite was stunning: a stairway which made for one of my all time favorite bride + bridesmaids photos, large bright windows perfect for natural light and prep shots, and nice neutral colors and decor. The barn featured ample space for all their guests, bar, dance floor, and a long buffet line. Then, of course, there was the gorgeous pond with a fountain. Overall, Heron’s Hollow was a beautiful, rustic location tucked away in Stewartstown. I would shoot there again in a heartbeat.

“One word”

If I had to pick one word to describe Sierra and Ron’s wedding day, without hesitation, I would pick “FUN”. From champagne pops, corn hole, endless dancing, and a beer funnel, it was clear that the pair knows how to have a good time. Though it was Sierra and Ron’s wedding day, they were sharing this special day with loved ones as well. Sierra’s sister (Morgan) was celebrating her 17th birthday, and Ron’s parents (Theresa and Craig) were celebrating their 34th anniversary. Sierra and Ron made sure to include them by having everyone sign cards and sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Morgan, and by giving Theresa and Craig their own time to dance together on the dance floor. It’s clear that there is so much love within the families. Ron’s brother gave a beautiful speech as best man, while Sierra’s childhood friends made Ron a “Sierra Survival Kit”. For me, the night ended with one last slow song, but I just know the party raged on.

Congratulations to the Wetherson’s! I wish this sweet couple all the best as they navigate this new, beautiful chapter in their lives. Check out the gallery below to view their gorgeous day!
